Summer is not yet over and my kids are still enjoying their vacation in their grandma’s house. My wife and I decided to save up some of our money for the coming school year. Instead of buying new shelves for their books and other school stuff, I decided to make one for them. I am not a professional carpenter but with the right manual and the right tools, I would definitely make it as a new DIY guy in the house.
I surfed the Internet few weeks ago and went to different sites where I can get ideas and tips on how to make bookshelves. I came across some DIY sites and a few How To blogs, which helped me a lot in constructing my very first bookshelf. You can visit freshome site: http://freshome.com/2008/02/25/30-of-the-most-creative-bookshelves-designs/ should you want to get concepts and new ideas of different types of bookshelves.
So far, I have seen a few pictures online that I want to follow. One of which is this image on your left. Simple and yet stylish. I am also looking at copying this image and just putting a little twist on it.
I have seen this stylish bookshelf (look at photo below) online and it really caught my attention and I am sure that my kids will really love it. Aside from being a bookshelf, my kids or even me can relax on it while reading our favorite books. It has this bench in between the shelves. Some would say that it might not be comfortable but once I change the details of the bench, I am absolutely sure that it will be more comfortable.
I haven't really started the project yet but I am thinking of doing it this weekend. I am just collecting all the stuff that I need to make sure that I finish the shelves with quality. I would also need to look for tools that can be useful to this project so that it would be easier for me to finish it with quality. I want my wife and kids to see the finished product and say that it looks like it was professionally done. I have visited this online tool supplier, which offers diamond tools such as a diamond blade, which can also be useful for me when cutting the wood for the shelves.
I can't wait to see their eyes and the excitement on their faces! With the right diamond tools, I am very optimistic about my DIY project.
